Sunrise on Mount Fleckner
Experience the most beautiful moment of the day together
Sometimes it's worth setting your alarm for a time when most people are just going to bed. That's exactly how one of Heinrichshof's most memorable hiking experiences begins: our sunrise hike to the summit of Mount Fleckner at the Jaufen Pass.
We meet at the hotel at 3:00 a.m. While it's still dark, the roads are quiet and the excitement for the adventure ahead is already in the air. Together we drive for about one hour and fifteen minutes to the Jaufen Pass, where our hike begins.
From there, it's about one hour to the summit of Mount Fleckner. With an elevation gain of around 330 metres, this hike is ideal for reasonably fit leisure hikers. The trail starts almost flat as far as the Fleckner Hut, then becomes a little steeper before continuing along scenic mountain paths with gentle ups and downs all the way to the summit. Sure-footedness and sturdy hiking boots are recommended, but the trail is not technically difficult.
As soon as we reach the summit, we're rewarded with an unforgettable view. The mountains are still wrapped in the magical blue hour. The sky slowly begins to glow, the stars gradually fade away, and we eagerly await the first rays of sunshine.
As the sun rises above the peaks of the Rosengarten (Catinaccio) and bathes the surrounding mountains in warm golden light, a peaceful silence settles over the landscape. Moments like these are the reason it's worth getting up in the middle of the night. The first rays of sunlight warm not only your skin but somehow your soul as well. At the same time, you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across the mountains of South Tyrol—an experience many of our guests describe as one of the highlights of their holiday.
To make this special morning even more memorable, we'll surprise you at the summit with a light breakfast. Freshly brewed coffee, hot tea and a small snack taste even better surrounded by such spectacular scenery.
A little tip: even when summer temperatures have already arrived in the valley, it can be surprisingly cold on the summit just before sunrise. Warm clothing is therefore highly recommended.
After a relaxing break, we return to the Jaufen Pass via an easy circular trail, taking about one hour. At around 9:00 a.m., we're back at Heinrichshof—just in time to enjoy the hotel's generous breakfast.
Elevation gain: 330 m
