Your holiday spot… Lagundo, near Merano

Alpine flair meets the easy-going Mediterranean style

160km of hiking and walking routes, with the Lagundo irrigation channel leading the way. Rarely can you talk about our garden village near Merano without it cropping up in conversation. Yet, our little town has a lot more to offer besides… our churches, for example, and the largest and oldest brewery in the region.

‘Waale’ are old, man-made irrigation channels which are still used to water fields and meadows in some parts of South Tyrol. The thin walkways alongside them – known as Waalwege – were installed to facilitate their maintenance. Today, the Lagundo irrigation channel is one of the most beautiful panoramic hiking trails in Merano and environs, which you can reach in just a few minutes from our hotel. The numerous churches and chapels in Lagundo are also true delights for art and architecture lovers.

Another highlight in our community is South Tyrol’s oldest brewery, the FORST, which is open to the public. Visitors can sometimes leave there with a special titbit of knowledge about its particular art of brewing…
